State-of-the-Art Technology

CEREC Same-Day Dentistry

In a perfect world, everyone would have flawless, healthy teeth forever. Unfortunately, factors like disease and injury make this impossible. Our dentists use cutting-edge dental technology to restore your smile.

A dental crown is a great option for replacing a large amount of missing tooth structure with durable porcelain material, improving the appearance of the tooth. While there are many benefits to getting a crown, the downside is usually the need for multiple visits. But not anymore!

Our dentists value your time. In the past, getting a crown required at least two appointments, often three weeks apart, with a temporary plastic crown and an uncomfortable impression process in between. Things have changed! Dr. Hanset and Dr. Kelch offer same-day crowns, allowing you to get your crown in just one appointment thanks to state-of-the-art technology.

The CEREC Visit

What Happens During a CEREC Visit?

Instead of traditional messy methods, our dentists use the CEREC camera to take a digital picture of your tooth, creating a 3-D virtual model using CAD/CAM technology. Your new crown is designed on the computer and sent to the CEREC milling unit, which crafts your crown from a block of porcelain.

You can even watch the milling machine in action as it creates your new crown. Once made, the crown is tried in for a perfect fit, strengthened in an oven at 1500 degrees, and cemented into place. No messy impressions, no temporary crowns, no extra appointments.

Choosing a Crown

When Is a Crown the Right Choice?

As time passes, our teeth can become weaker and more prone to issues like decay, cracks, or discoloration. Crowns restore both the look and function of a tooth, often in combination with root canal therapy, dental implants, or as support for a bridge.

After treatment, proper at-home care and regular office visits help ensure the longevity of your crown for years to come.

Multiple Missing Teeth

Missing More Than One Tooth?

A dental bridge replaces missing teeth by using neighboring crowned teeth as anchors, helping prevent shifting, misaligned bite, and TMJ problems. For a restoration that also replaces the tooth root, ask us about dental implants.

We’ll explain every option honestly so you can choose what’s best for your smile.

FAQs

CEREC® Crown Questions We Hear Often

CEREC stands for the chairside economical restoration of esthetic restorations. In the case of dental crowns, CEREC refers to ceramic-made dental crowns that are made chairside in a dentist’s office. CEREC crowns rely on CAD/CAM technology (computer-aided design/manufacturing), which helps create dental crowns quickly, in one appointment, based on digital impressions.

Traditionally, dental crowns are crafted in a dental lab over a couple of weeks based on physical molded impressions. With CEREC crowns, the impressions are taken digitally, very much like photographs. The CAD/CAM technology transmits them into the CEREC machine, which creates an accurate, efficient crown based on the digital impression. The entire process happens in just one dental appointment.

CEREC crowns are created in just one day, reducing the number of appointments required. They are made of strong, natural-looking ceramic materials for a tooth-like restoration. And because there is no week of wearing a temporary crown, the risk of damage during the waiting period is eliminated.

Yes. CEREC crown technology has been studied and perfected over years to ensure safe and strong results.

With good oral care, CEREC crowns may last a very long time: on average around 10 to 15 years, and sometimes much longer. Just like traditional crowns, they may eventually need repair or replacement if there are accidents, decay, or breaks.
